Now more than ever, most folks are looking for signs of compassion throughout their community. They want to feel connected, despite the self-isolation.
Luckily, some residents, including the attorneys at Shollenberger, Januzzi & Wolfe, LLP, are making the connections easier by participating in visits across Middletown and Harrisburg.
Spreading care with extra special visitors
The first stop was showing support to Hamilton Health Center, a local clinic that provides preventative, mental health, dental and vision care to Harrisburg community members that may not have access to such services.
Lawyers from Shollenberger, Januzzi & Wolfe, LLC provided 20 dozen fresh cookies from For The Love Of Cookie to the center’s 165 frontline employees for PAJ’s Day of Giving. It was a small gesture to show their appreciation for the work these employees have done for the community, especially during the current pandemic.
According to the Press and Journal, the Middletown Home has been closed to all visitors since about mid-March with few circumstantial exceptions.
The home’s employees have thought of some creative ways to connect residents to the community while practicing social distancing guidelines. However, Bort offered the idea to walk horses outside the building and say hello to all the residents.
“Horses bring me so much happiness, so I thought I could share a little bit of that,” Bort said. “The residents and the staff all seemed to enjoy it. The Middletown Home actually asked us to come back out, and we did round two the past weekend.”
The firm was thrilled to participate and share their appreciation for various parts of their community during this tumultuous time.
