Finding the time and joy in one’s life to dance is admirable. There is, however, a time and place to partake in the carefree activity. For example, while walking the roads of Pennsylvania, pedestrians would be wise to focus on the task at-hand: to get from one place to another in one piece.
A man was recently injured in a Pennsylvania pedestrian accident. Part of the cause is a bit unusual. The accident victim was reportedly dancing while walking. The broken bones the community-known “Dancing Man” suffered as a result of the crash will probably put his dancing on hold, at least until he can heal.
More than healing, safety advocates hope that the injured pedestrian will do some learning following the incident. Not only was he dancing instead of focusing on the road; he was also reportedly walking on the wrong side of the street. Pedestrian safety rules or tips include the following and more:
- Pedestrians should face traffic when on the roads.
- Pedestrians should wear reflective, visible clothing when it is not bright out.
- Pedestrians should be hyper-wary of the reduced space between them and cars when there is snow on the roads.
The above tips are not meant to place all traffic safety responsibility on Pennsylvania pedestrians. Drivers, of course, carry much responsibility in order to prevent pedestrian accidents. Every accident has its own set of details and circumstances. Someone who believes that he or she is a victim of driver negligence should speak to a personal injury attorney who can evaluate the situation and legal options.
