One person was sent to the hospital and several homes and businesses were evacuated after a chemical leak at a Pennsylvania business occurred. The report did not indicate what the chemical was but authorities stated that it posed no threat to the public.

According to the report, the evacuation occurred due to chemical vapors and odors that were leaking from two drums in a Bimax Inc. building that was located in Springfield Township. A portion of Susquehanna Trail South was also closed for a brief period of time.

The person who was taken to a nearby hospital was a truck driver who had inhaled the chemical vapor and complained of an upset stomach. No further report on his condition was given.

Employees expect their place of employment to care about their health. While most companies do, it can often be difficult to seek appropriate compensation when someone becomes injured while on the job. In many cases, employees can often not sue for injuries due to contracts that they sign before they begin to work.

A Pennsylvania attorney with experience in workers’ compensation matters may be able to assist an employee who has been injured in a workplace accident. For example, the attorney may be able to determine if the injury was caused by defective equipment design defects in equipment or faulty safety features. Such an attorney may also be able to determine if the employee is eligible to make a claim for workers’ compensation benefits, and may be able to assist that employee in compiling and preparing the various documents and materials that may be necessary to perfect such a claim.
