In Pennsylvania, the spring and summer months bring out motorcycling enthusiasts who take to the roads. But for some riders, sharing the road with much larger vehicles can sometimes result in motorcycle accidents. Getting into a motorcycle crash can result in serious injuries like a head injury, multiple broken bones, and soft tissue damage.
In some instances, motorcycle accidents and the injuries that result can be fatal. This past weekend in Philadelphia, a young man was killed after his motorcycle was struck by a passing truck. He suffered injuries to several of his major organs and was immediately brought to the hospital, where he died later that day.
The young man’s family is likely dealing with the loss of their loved one. The pain of losing a family member in a vehicle accident is painful enough, but his family is also struggling with the fact that the truck driver fled the scene. Their son was seriously hurt and the driver who caused the accident left him on the road.
Law enforcement was conducting an investigation as of last night. Police still do not have a suspect, but do know what make and color the truck was.
Unfortunately, even finding the truck driver will do little to comfort the young man’s family. They will have to deal with the emotional aftereffects of the crash. But his family may also be facing financial challenges as well. There may be hospital bills and funeral expenses that must be taken care of.
If a motorcycle crash is caused by the negligence of another, the family of the victim can seek compensation for their loss. The death of a loved one is always a difficult time and though financial compensation will not bring back a loved one, it can help a family move forward.
