Getting into an accident of any kind is a scary experience. In some instances, people involved in a crash are seriously injured – some accidents can be fatal. Whatever the circumstances, the aftermath of an accident can be devastating and far-reaching.
Earlier this week, a Pennsylvania man was killed in a motorcycle accident. Up until this point this year, there had already been 23 other fatality resulting from a motor vehicle accident. But this accident differs because the driver of the other car may not have been licensed to drive.
The motorcyclist had been on an early morning ride. A pick-up truck that was towing a trailer behind turned in front of the motorcyclist. The motorcyclist slammed into the trailer and was knocked unconscious.
The extent of his injuries is not detailed in the report, but somehow the motorcyclist’s arm was amputated. He was quickly transported to a medical center nearby but did not survive his injuries. The driver of the pick-up truck did not sustain any injuries.
Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the pick-up truck driver did not have a valid driver’s license. In fact, he is believed to be illegally employed by the company for whom he had been driving the truck. He has been criminally charged for the motorcyclist’s death and is currently awaiting his next court appearance.
Despite the knowledge that the man responsible for the death has been charged, the motorcyclist’s family is still forced to deal with the death of a loved one. When the death of an individual is caused by someone else’s negligence, the family can seek compensation for their loss. While money will never bring back a loved one, it can help take care of some of the unexpected expenses that can come up after an accidental death.
