Hyundai fined for not addressing brake defect

The summer of recalls continues as Korean automaker Hyundai is set to pay a $17.35 million fine levied by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Federal regulators contend that Hyundai was very slow to acknowledge that brake lines in their automobiles were subject to corrosion, which could have put lives at risk. Essentially, Hyundai reportedly knew as early as 2012 that brake lines in its 2009 through 2012 Genesis vehicles could be subject to corrosion, which would have reduced braking power.

The staggering costs of auto accidents

A recent study released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration highlighted a staggering number that many drivers may take for granted. Essentially, researchers found that cost of auto accidents across the United States costs nearly $1 trillion per year when considering the costs of medical expenses, lost wages, property damage and decreased quality of life for those who suffer long term injuries.

The dangers of taking selfies while driving

It should be obvious that taking selfies while driving is inherently dangerous. After all, the act of posing for a picture, pushing a button on a smartphone, and posting it onto Facebook takes a certain amount of focus. If a driver is doing this while they are behind the wheel, it is more than likely that he or she is not focusing on the road.

Tracy Morgan moved to rehab center

Comedian Tracy Morgan has been moved from a New Jersey hospital to a rehabilitation center. Morgan, who is best known for his characters on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” and “30 Rock” spent nine days in the hospital after an accident that left him in critical condition. According to numerous reports, the limousine van that Morgan and fellow comedian James “Jimmy Mack” McNair was struck from behind by a semi truck driven by Kevin Roper, who has since been charged with a number of crimes stemming from the crash.
