When an accident occurs, a number of personal injuries as well as property damage can result. Depending on the situation, individuals involved may find themselves in the hospital for a long period of time, recovering from crash-related injuries. But in some instances an accident can be fatal, taking the life of an accident victim.
Earlier this month, a Pennsylvania man was killed in a motorcycle accident after a tow truck drove in front of him. When the article was written, police were still investigating the crash to determine what happened.
According to the article, the motorcyclist had been traveling down the road while a tow truck was coming from the opposite direction. The driver of the tow truck was turning left, putting him in the path of oncoming traffic for a few moments. It is unclear whether the tow truck driver simply did not see the motorcyclist or whether the driver had been distracted, but while he was turning left the motorcyclist crashed into the side of the truck.
When responders arrived at the scene of the accident, they found the motorcyclist on the road. His injuries were severe and he did not survive. The tow truck driver, however, did not sustain any injuries.
When an accident occurs, investigators often consider a number of different factors that could have contributed to the crash. Thus far, it appears that neither driver was under the influence of alcohol. But one of the bigger questions that investigators were asking was regarding the status of the traffic lights when the crash occurred.
Once the investigation is closed, the family of the man who died may have some answers to the questions they probably had after his sudden death. If the death was the result of the tow truck driver’s negligence, the man’s family may be entitled to compensation for their loss.
