Getting into a car accident can be a terrifying experience. It comes unexpectedly and sometimes leaves permanent scars and physical disabilities as reminders of the crash. In the worst situations, car accidents can be fatal.
When a car accident occurs, police officers that respond to the scene of the accident try to figure out what happened. For one couple, they are still trying to determine who caused the accident that resulted in their truck going over a guide rail in Somerset Township, PA.
When responders arrived at the scene, they found a truck flipped over on the other side of the guide rail. The husband and wife in the truck were brought to a local hospital and are both in stable conditions. According to the husband who had been driving, their truck was struck by another car that fled the scene.
A hit-and-run accident like this raises questions. Aside from the obvious inquiry of who was driving the other car, an important question is whether the driver of the car that fled was just being negligent or whether the driver was intoxicated.
In either situation, the couple in the truck will have hospital bills and car repairs to deal with. They will most likely work with their insurance company to reach a solution, a process that can be both frustrating and time consuming, especially when the person who caused the accident is still unknown.
Officers believe that the same hit-and-run vehicle also hit a second car before it drove away. The second vehicle did not suffer the same fate as the truck, managing to come to a stop at the side of the road after spinning into the guide rail. Police are still looking for the hit-and-run driver.
